Magdeburg Open-Source-Day

Development meets Use

On October 11, 2008 the first ever Madgeburg Open-Source-Day will be held. It is aimed equally at IT-professionals, entry level and general users, as well as industry and commerce. A large number of interesting themes shall be covered by competent speakers. Entry is free.

During the seminars and workshops the following themes shall be covered: IT Security, Administration and Management, Free Software in Industry and Commerce, the place of the “New Media” in further education as well as the entry- and user forum.

The aim of the Madgeburg Open-Source-Day is to bring together hackers and the Open Source scene with social- and educational sciences. Hence this main point of this year's event shall be E-Learning, Computers in school and science management. Open Source Projects and companies from the Open Source sector shall furthermore be given the chance to present themselves to the public via an exhibition.

In addition there shall be a number of parallel running seminars and workshops by Open Source developers as well as representatives from the realms of commerce, research and learning.

The event takes place on the second Saturday in October, the 11th of October, in Building 22 at the Otto-von-Guericke-University in Magdeburg. The event is being sponsored by the Institut für Erziehungswissenschaft, Lehrstuhl Allgemeine Pädagogik und dem Verein MagdeburgKind e.V.
